Scalp Care Matters!!

SCALP CARE MATTERS!
People spend a lot of money and time on their hair. We change our cut, our color, and want to look great but when was the last time you thought about your scalp? If your scalp is not healthy, either is your hair. By the way, caring for your scalp can help prevent many of the common causes of hair loss and damage.

Think about your garden or your plants. Do they look like the first picture or the second? With just this one example, you can see how important proper nutrients and proper care of your scalp can affect the growth of your hair.

When your scalp is healthy, your pores and follicles are open. Conversely, if your scalp is painful (a symptom of an unhealthy scalp) or very dry or very oily, your pores and follicles can be clogged. Naturally, this makes it difficult for hair to grow. It also creates a skin layer where bacteria grow which also causes odor.

Want healthier hair? Let’s improve the health of your scalp! Very simply, if you do nothing to support the condition of your scalp, your hair will not respond in a healthy manner. When you spend a little time focused on your scalp, it can help you to see thicker and fuller results.

So, how can you achieve this? Here are five FAQ’s that will shed (pun intended) some light on scalp care and increase the look of your hair.

Question: What to do if I have dandruff
Answer: Is your scalp very dry, itchy? Yes? Then it’s time to take action. Let’s determine why. If your scalp is too dry, this could be due to poor nutritional intake based on diet or lack of absorption. A scalp that is too oily could indicate a hormonal imbalance.

Question: How can I help my hair growth?
Answer: Promote blood flow by massaging your scalp for just a few minutes daily. Creating blood flow invigorates your body’s natural healing process which encourages healing of the cells in your scalp.

Question: What kinds of hair products are best for me?
Answer: Many hair care products contain harsh chemicals that are extremely damaging to your scalp and your hair. It’s best to use natural or organic products because they are less severe therefore, do less harm.

Question: Does my diet affect my hair growth?
Answer: What goes in matters. Our scalp is part of our skin which is the biggest organ in our body. We need to feed ourselves with healthy fruits and vegetables and plenty of water to keep us nourished and hydrated. By eating well we enable our cells’ ability to do their job more effectively.

Question: What is a good daily scalp/hair care routine?
Answer: Start with a good (see step 3) moisturizing shampoo (you do not have to shampoo daily). Look into scalp therapy treatments that remove residue on your scalp. This residue is build- up from shampoos, conditioners, gels, hair sprays, etc. that regular shampoos don’t remove. There are also topical treatments that help improve your scalp’s health. Tea tee oil or essentials oils can be helpful.
Ask your hair professional to look at your scalp. It’s possible they may suggest seeing a medical doctor. The condition of our scalp could be indicative of a health issue. When you start taking care of your scalp you will notice a difference in your hair’s shine and manageability. You will just love how it feels and looks!
